Getting Started with Web Analytics
I had the pleasure of catching up with Gahlord Dewald, Lead Janitor at Thoughfaucet, a business strategy consultancy. Now, when you want to understand Web Analytics and SEO (search engine optimization), Gahlord is the guy you talk to…seriously. So anyway, we talked about M&M’s (the peanut kind), coffee, REtechSouth 2011 and what every Real Estate Agent/Broker needs to understand about getting started with web analytics.
Here’s the video (would love your thoughts in the comments):

Key Takeaways:
Find two or three analytics reports and understand what they are and understand what kind of action you’re going to take based on that data. What do you want to measure? For example, here are a couple of reports to consider:
- How many people are looking at your real estate search page? Find out how many people are visiting this particular page. This is more interesting than say how many people are coming to your homepage.
- You can configure Google Analytics to notify you when someone fills out a lead form.
- You can configure Google Analytics to notify you of what keywords people are searching to get to your website.
There’s lots of things you can measure, but to really be effective, you need to understand your goals and objectives first. As promised, we’ll be hosting a free one-hour webinar with Gahlord on Wednesday, April 27th at 11:00am PDT. You can register here: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/535518704.
